Acclaimed Kalkadoon artist Chern’ee Sutton depicts her traditional Country in the Mount Isa region of Queensland. The flowing lines represent footprints travelling across the land, while community gatherings are indicated by circular motifs. The stamp subjects include a coolamon holding bush food and medicine, and storytelling about the stars, animals, and culture. The life-giving sun shines over the vital waterholes, rivers, and rugged mountains of Kalkadoon Country, giving warmth and nurture to all. The emu is emphasized as it is the artist’s personal totem. Chern’ee Sutton has received numerous awards and honors. She has been a Queensland Day Ambassador for the Arts and a Queensland Reconciliation Awards Ambassador. Her work is held in collections nationally and internationally. This postal numismatic cover is a limited edition of 300, housing a $1 AlBr uncirculated coin produced by the Perth Mint.
