The factory lower shock mounts on the 5th Gen 4Runner hang notoriously low, making them immediate targets for rock strikes when navigating technical trails. Additionally, your shock shafts are in the direct firing line of rocks, mud, and road debris kicked up by your front tires, which inevitably leads to pitting, rust, and eventually, blown shock seals. The O2 Fabrication Rear Shock Skids solve both issues. Built in-house from 3/16” plasma-cut steel, these heavy-duty skids tie directly into the shock mounting bolts to absorb severe impacts while acting as a physical shield for your expensive dampers.
Finish Note: Ships bare raw steel. Painting or powder coating is required prior to installation to prevent rust.
Pro Tip: Upgrading your suspension with thicker aftermarket lower trailing arms can sometimes create tight clearances at the axle. Always cycle your suspension and check for contact between your lower links and the shock guard. You must maintain at least 0.5” of clearance. If things get too close, the 3/16" steel guard is easy to trim with a grinder to dial in the perfect fit.
