Medium gold-tinged yellow. Peach, blood orange, menthol and nutmeg on the nose, complicated by a distinctly stony, slatey quality. Then bright and penetrating on the palate, with musky green papaya, pink grapefruit and lichee flavors offering noteworthy precision and poise. Lasts well on the juicy, perfumed aftertaste. This gives an impression of greater sweetness and softness than the more linear, almost straightforward Rangen. The two wines couldn't be any more different, and I prefer the Brand in 2005. -- Ian D'Agata
