The RIGOL DM858 Series is a benchtop digital multimeter line positioned as a highly cost-effective test tool for engineers. The series comprises two models, the DM858 and DM858E, both built around 5½-digit resolution (120,000 counts) and a 7-inch color touch screen. Each unit combines True-RMS AC voltage and AC current measurement with a broad set of measurement and analysis functions in a single compact instrument.
A benchtop digital multimeter measures fundamental electrical quantities — voltage, current, resistance, and related parameters — and presents the results on a bench display for laboratory, production, and test work. The DM858 Series provides 11 measurement functions, 5 Math operations, and 3 graphical display types, a configuration intended to satisfy what most experiments and tests require of a multimeter.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Holding inventory directly lets our team match the right instrument and condition to each engineer's requirement and support the order after the sale.
The DM858 Series consists of two benchtop digital multimeter models, the DM858 and DM858E, sharing a common platform of 5½-digit resolution (120,000 counts), an 11-function measurement set, 5 Math operations, and a 7-inch color touch screen. Both models provide True-RMS AC voltage and AC current measurement and the same standard USB and LAN interfaces with Web Control.
Within that shared platform, the two models differ in measurement speed, accuracy, capture depth, and maximum measurement ranges. The comparison table that follows lists each model's specifications side by side so the differences can be evaluated against the intended application.
Each model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing for the new configuration. Select the model that matches the required specifications, then choose the listing for the condition and price that fit your needs.
The DM858 and DM858E differ across several headline specifications. The DM858 provides 0.03% DCV accuracy (1 year), a maximum reading rate of 125 readings per second, and 500,000 points of data logging memory. The DM858E provides 0.06% DCV accuracy (1 year), 80 readings per second, and 20,000 points of logging memory, with its non-volatile history storage scaled to 20,000 readings per group versus 500,000 per group on the DM858.
The maximum measurement ranges also differ between the two models. The DM858 supports a 10 A maximum current measurement range and a 10 mF maximum capacitance range, while the DM858E supports a 3 A maximum current range and a 1 mF maximum capacitance range. Their front-panel and internal fuse ratings differ accordingly. Refer to the comparison table for the full per-model specification breakdown.
| Model | DCV Accuracy (1 yr) | Max Reading Rate | Max DC Current |
|---|---|---|---|
| DM858E | 0.060% | 80 readings/s | 3 A |
| DM858 | 0.030% | 125 readings/s | 10 A |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum current operating limit: for continuous current greater than DC 7 A or AC RMS 7 A, 30 seconds ON and 30 seconds OFF.
Important: For the 100 μA, 1 mA, 10 mA, and 100 mA current ranges, the internal current sensing resistor needs to be cooled when measuring >1 A current for more than 15 minutes.
Important: For all the mainframes, accessories, and options, please contact the local office of RIGOL.
Recommended pairing: the optional Kelvin Test Clip (KELVINTESTCLIP-DMM) listed as an accessory for this series supports low-resistance measurement work.
