Keim Silan Primer penetrates the pores and any hairline cracks of mineral building materials. After evaporation of the solvent the active component is deposited on the walls, once subsequently coated (with the Keim Mineral Paint system), the product develops water repellent characteristics.

Keim Silan Primer does not seal the pores of the building material, ensuring the water vapour permeability of the substrate remains virtually unchanged.

Preparation & Application

Substrate Preparation
All loose, flaking and unstable material must be identified and then thoroughly removed, all surfaces must be thoroughly washed down with clean cold water to remove all surface dirt and dust. When all surfaces are clean, sound, wind dry, dust free and free from all surface contaminants, decoration using Keim Silan Primer may proceed.

Application
Keim Silan Primer should be applied to bare areas as a flood coat, by brush or low-pressure spray, undiluted and within a period of 2 to 6 hours, and these times are critical, the first coat of Keim Mineral Paints must be applied. Ambient and substrate temperature above 5°C and below 30°C. Do not apply in direct sunlight or onto sun-heated surfaces, nor if it is raining or if there is an immediate likelihood of rain.

Clean tools with water immediately after use.
