Champs de Lavande is the embodiment of a Midwestern prairie in an early summer midafternoon on the Oregon Trail. After reading about the adventures of Henri Chatillon in the memoir, The Oregon Trail, Herman Melville called Chatillon the most gallant man to ever kill a bison. When summertime blooms and the bison graze, the smell of these Midwestern fields fills their nostrils. As Chatillon and his Sioux companions cautiously approach under the cover of a nearby thicket, the smell of lavender and the undergrowth are beaten out by the sun, directly overhead. To capture the smell of that afternoon, Champs de Lavande uses two types of lavender, ylang ylang, eucalyptus, rosemary, bergamot and black pepper to create an elegantly simple scent.
