During the Victorian era, five-stone rings, such as this one, were widely favoured, reflecting the opulence and extravagance of the time. During that era, amethyst was cherished for its unique hue. It carried symbols associated with wealth and nobility, further contributing to its popularity. The five, oval-cut amethysts set in this ring are prime exampled of the gemstone and have a combined weight of 1.68 carats, the largest set in the centre of the ring. The violet gemstones are punctuated with tiny twinkling diamonds that beautifully finish the ring. Tested 18ct yellow gold, circa 1880.
