This rare rhododendron hybrid produces incredibly beautiful pink blooms that can start as early as April, and as late as June, depending on growing conditions. The hue of each flower grows more intense toward the throat. Its dark red pattern on the dorsal provides an extra touch of character.
John Coutts was hybridized by the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew, in the 1940s. This medium-growing rhododendron has olive-green elepidote foliage, and grows to around 4' tall x 4' wide at maturity. It is hardy to 5°F when protected from windchill.
