Drawing inspiration from ICM's archives, the I-153 Chaika stands out as the pinnacle of the N.N. Polikarpov Design Bureau's biplane fighter series. Featuring a distinctive gull-shaped upper wing, retractable chassis, and formidable armament of four ShKAS machine guns, this model represents the zenith of pre-WWII aviation design. Initially powered by M-62 radial engines, later versions saw an upgrade to the more potent M-63 engines. The I-153 first took to the skies in August 1938, and between 1939-1941, a total of 3,437 planes were produced. By the summer of 1941, the I-153 "Chaika" (meaning "Gull") formed the backbone of the Soviet Fighter Aviation alongside the I-16 fighters, remaining in combat until mid-1943.
