The story behind the Tears of Job earrings:

During the early spring of this past year I ended up at the downtown public library picking out some seeds through the library’s seed exchange program, and I came across a packet of seeds for the grain bearing Tears of Job. One of the parts of the description of the seeds was that the dried seed pods were used to make beads, so obviously I had to get them and try my hand at growing them. I grew 3 plants and harvested and dried about 50 seed pods this first time around. I chose the nicest color palette of these seeds and then had to hollow out the insides by removing the seeds and hull...this part was actually more time consuming than I anticipated! I matched Japanese seed beads to the color palette from the Tears of Job I had chosen to use, and came up with this design. I’ve always been fascinated with thinking about the processes people have developed, throughout history, to create things from the world around them, so this was right up my alley. They also make a soothing sound when you move while wearing them. So, these Tears of Job earrings have a little bit extra special energy woven into them.
