The First Watch AV-800-HV-S/M is a high-performance USCG Type III Approved flotation vest designed for professional mariners, industrial contractors, and search and rescue teams.1 This S/M (Small/Medium) model provides a tailored, secure fit for chest sizes ranging from 30" to 40", ensuring safety without the bulk of oversized universal vests.
The AV-800 Pro series is engineered to bridge the gap between a standard life jacket and a tactical work vest. With a rugged 600D Polyester shell, it is built to survive harsh daily use on docks, ships, and survey vessels. The high-contrast Hi-Vis Yellow and Black design ensures the wearer remains visible while masking the grease and grime common in industrial marine environments.
4-Pocket Storage System: Includes two large zippered bellows pockets for items like gloves or GPS units, and two hook-and-loop pockets perfectly sized for radios or small tools.
SOLAS Reflective Tape: Features high-grade SOLAS reflective panels on the front and back for maximum visibility during night operations or foul weather.
Rugged 600D Shell: Constructed from heavy-duty 600-Denier Polyester to resist tears, UV fading, and abrasion.
Enhanced Mobility: Oversized armholes and a short-waist design allow for a full range of motion when rowing, climbing ladders, or operating boat controls.
Accessory Lash Tab: A reinforced plastic lash tab on the chest allows for the quick attachment of a rescue knife, strobe, or gear clip.
Triple-Buckle Security: Three 1.5" heavy-duty belts and a rugged front zipper provide a redundant, "slip-proof" fit even in turbulent water.
Comfort Liner: Lined with soft 200D polyester to prevent chafing during long shifts in hot or humid conditions.

For smaller responders or crew members, an improperly fitted life jacket is a safety hazard. The AV-800 S/M is specifically cut to prevent the vest from "riding up" to the chin when in the water, ensuring the buoyancy remains centered on the chest where it is most effective.
To maintain the visibility of the Hi-Vis Yellow fabric, rinse the vest with fresh water after every use, especially after exposure to salt spray or oil. Avoid storing in direct sunlight for extended periods to preserve the life of the reflective SOLAS tape.
