AndCoat HB PU – High-Build Flexible Polyurethane Coating

AndCoat HB PU is a solvent-free, flexible, high-build polyurethane coating suitable for concrete, asphalt, metal decking, and wood substrates. Supplied as a two-pack system with pre-weighed base and curing agent, it produces a coloured semi-gloss finish that is abrasion and chemical resistant. Easy to apply, hygienic, and durable, AndCoat HB PU is ideal for floors requiring a seamless, flexible coating.

Key Features:

  • Fast application
  • Hygienic & easy to clean
  • Excellent adhesion to concrete
  • Flexible
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Seamless floor finish

Surface Preparation

To be assured of maximum adhesion and best properties from Andrews Coatings products the correct surface preparation is essential. The concrete substrate must be a minimum
of 28 days old and the residual moisture content must be a maximum of 75% RH. The substrate should be sound with a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm2 and a minimum pull-off strength of 1.5 N/mm2. The surface must be clean, dry and free of contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface treatments and contain a functioning damp proof membrane. If in doubt, apply a test area first. Concrete substrates should be mechanically prepared using vacuum enclosed abrasive blast cleaning or diamond grinding equipment to remove laitance and previous surface treatments followed by thorough vacuuming leaving an open textured surface. Weak concrete must be removed and repaired using recommended Andrews Coatings products.

Technical Data

Coverage: 6–8m² per kg depending on surface

Directions for Use

This product is supplied ready for use. No additions should be made. Pour all of the contents of the part B container into the part A container and thoroughly mix using a slow
speed mixing drill and paddle, avoiding air entrainment. Mix for a minimum of 5 minutes until the material forms a uniform colour and consistency. Scrape down the sides after
2 minutes to ensure that all materials are fully incorporated. Never mix by hand. Do not split packs.

Apply by brush and short/medium piled roller at a minimum rate of 0.25kg/m2. After a minimum of 16 hours and before a maximum of 48 hours, apply a second coat at the
same coverage rate. Should a non-slip finish be required, then broadcast an appropriate aggregate immediately after applying the first coat. Brush off excess aggregate the following day, prior to applying the second coat. The ambient temperature of the works area should be a minimum of 15°C during the application and curing period, if not adhered to this can affect the performance of the system. Materials and substrate temperature must remain above 10°C all times

Primers & Substrate Preparation

A primer is not typically required for AndCoat HB on sound, non-porous substrates. However, in certain conditions, the correct primer should be used to ensure optimal performance and finish.

  • AndPrime– Recommended for porous concrete substrates to improve adhesion and prevent pin-holing, helping achieve a smooth, uniform coating.
  • AndCoat DPM (Damp Proof Membrane) – Required where moisture levels are high (above 75% RH) to control moisture and protect the coating system from failure.

Using the appropriate primer ensures maximum adhesion, reduces surface defects, and supports long-term durability of the coating system.
