Frequently Asked Questions
-
Will the patent leather surface crack?
High-quality patent leather generally will not crack if properly maintained. However, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high-temperature environments, or excessive bending can cause the patent finish to age and crack. Avoid folding during storage; it is recommended to use stuffing to support and maintain its shape, keeping it away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
-
How do I handle scratches on the patent surface?
Minor scratches on patent leather are relatively noticeable, as any flaw is easily seen on a high-gloss surface. Faint scratches can be gently buffed with a specialized patent leather conditioner to restore shine. Deeper scratches are difficult to fully repair, so it is recommended to avoid friction with sharp or coarse objects during daily use.
-
Will the patent leather surface stick together?
Yes, patent leather can experience surface sticking when exposed to high temperatures or tight, prolonged contact—especially when two patent surfaces are pressed together. During storage, it is advised to place a layer of soft cotton or non-woven fabric between the patent surfaces to prevent direct contact, and keep the storage environment well-ventilated and dry.
-
Is patent leather genuine leather or synthetic leather?
Our patent leather uses a genuine leather base. While imitation patent leathers made of PU or PVC do exist on the market, our product uses real leather as the base material with a patent coating applied to the surface. Patent leather with a genuine leather base outperforms pure synthetic materials in terms of breathability, durability, and texture.

How do I care for patent leather?
Wipe away surface dust and stains with a soft, damp cloth, then dry it with a clean cloth. A specialized patent leather conditioner can be used to maintain its gloss. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, and extreme cold, as the patent coating can become brittle in low temperatures. Do not fold during storage; use stuffing to maintain its shape and place fabric between patent surfaces to prevent sticking. Never use ordinary leather oils or waxes, as they will dull the finish and cause it to lose its shine.
